Sharon
Prus has been involved in various volunteer organizations.
She has served as a Muskegon County’s United Way Loaned
Executive and Cabinet Chair, Oceana County United Way Cabinet,
Hart Rotary Secretary, Muskegon Business and Education Partnership
and was instrumental in starting the White Lake Optimist Charter
as Charter President.
Sharon began her outdoor experiences
in 1989 and shares her passion with her two sons, Kris &
Joe. Both boys have experienced various outdoor activities and
share many memories with their mother.
Sharon became involved in the National Wild Turkey
Federation in 1996 when she was asked to sit on a banquet committee
for the Dune Drummers chapter. She then
accepted the position of Chapter President which made her the
first NWTF woman chapter president in the State of Michigan.
She also has held the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the
Dune Drummers Chapter 1997-2005.
With her past community involvement,
passion for the outdoors, meeting new people and the encouragement
& support of her “significant other” Dennis,
she decided to start her own organization. Sharing the outdoor
knowledge with women from all walks of life, through the National
Outdoor women events, seminars and private lessons, has been
her dream for a long time. “It’s an awesome feeling
watching a woman try something new and get so excited when she
does more than she thought she could! Being an outdoor woman
doesn’t mean just hunting or fishing, but experiencing
everything the outdoors has to offer!”
